Jamie Harris
Jamie is a Colorado native and has been skiing Vail since 1966. He received an Economics degree from the University of Colorado then moved east to work in investment banking. Soon after, Jamie started his own full service commercial real estate firm specializing in shopping centers. After 15-years Jamie decided to break off on his own, buying and operating shopping centers in and around the Denver Metro area. His areas of expertise include financing, operations and acquisitions. Jamie now works part time in real estate and began volunteering with Foresight in 2019. Jamie quickly realized that the work Foresight does for its visually impaired clients is life changing. Combining his love of skiing with guiding at Foresight has been so impactful he’s recruited his wife of 31-years, Leanna, and their daughter and son in law. Jamie and Leanna have three children and now live most of the year in the Vail Valley. |
Kevin Rose
Kevin is looking forward to another fun season with Foresight Ski Guides. He began guiding visually impaired skiers in 2002. Over the years Kevin has met some wonderful people that have helped build great experiences. “Let’s get out on the snow and have some fun.” Kevin is married, has two sons and lives in Colorado. Some of Kevin’s favorite activities include being a volunteer ski guide for visually impaired skiers, hiking, fishing, weightlifting, working on his Jeep, spending time with his family and their Siberian husky. In the morning of September 13, 2014, Kevin stood on top of Uncompahgre Peak (14,309 feet) with his two teenage sons. It was our 55th fourteener summit together. In Kevin’s free time, he is a Certified Financial Planner™. |
Bill Johnson
After being blinded in 1991, Bill Johnson remembers seeing a blind skier on a college ski trip. Seven months after losing his sight he was back on skis. “Going skiing made a statement to my family, friends, employer, and myself, that I was not going to let blindness keep me down. I’ll never forget the exhilaration of the first turns on that first trip. Skiing today is part of who I am, and always a joyful experience.” Foresight has been Bill’s go-to organization for the last 17 years. He says the guides are consistently the best and employ the best safety protocols of anywhere he has skied. Bill says he loves Foresight’s emphasis on bringing young people who are blind or visually impaired up to the mountains for winter and summer adventures. He says skiing blind taught him a lot about trusting others, asking for help, overcoming fear, and being courageous. And all while having a blast. He is happy to support giving blind kids an opportunity to gain these same insights. Bill’s professional resume includes 25 years in Management Consulting for KPMG Peat Marwick and its spin-off BearingPoint. He served as a Senior Manager and Director in the Infrastructure Practice, with a focus on developing IT Strategies, and leading the planning, design acquisition and implementation of leading-edge technology in data, video and voice networking. He retired in 2010. Bill served on the Midwest Regional Board for The American Foundation for the Blind and has assisted the Missouri Council for the Blind with special projects. |
Lisa Ludwig
Lisa Ludwig landed a traveling assignment at The Children's Hospital as a Surgical Technologist in June 2002 and has remained in Colorado ever since. Drawn to the mountains for skiing and year-round outdoor activities, she moved to Vail continuing to work in the Medical Field until 2015. Guided by her passion of the Vail community and delivering exceptional service, Lisa joined Vail Resorts Retail in July 2015. She is now a Senior Manager of Retail/Rental for Vail Resorts Retail, where she oversees operations for ten locations throughout Vail. When she isn't leading her teams at work, Lisa is quite busy raising her two sons and two rescue dogs alongside her husband. The family is always on the move, but the two activities they enjoy the most together are Golf and Fly Fishing. Blending her overall enthusiasm for skiing and Vail Mountain, Lisa is deeply rooted in contributing to inspire and make a positive impact with the Foresight Crew. Sharing her love of skiing, Lisa looks forward to seeing the smiles and developing everlasting friendships. |
Russell Parker
Russell fell in love with skiing in high school when he learned to ski at Wolf Creek in Colorado. He received a scholarship to study in Germany his senior year. As an exchange student, his host family took him to Austria for two weeks where he vastly improved his skiing abilities. In college, Russell and friends skied regularly (even skiing and surfing on the same day), and for Spring Break his junior and senior years, he and his friends embarked on the "4-Corner Drill" where they skied Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and (attempted) Arizona. This led to his desire to be a ski bum. After graduation (much to his father's chagrin) he moved to Colorado and worked at Breckenridge. With plenty of native Colorado friends who pushed him to his limits, Russell embraced the beauty of skiing all over Colorado and the West. He's worked to impart this love of skiing on his wife and three kids. In 2021, Russell decided to begin volunteering with Foresight and truly loves sharing his passion for skiing with those experiencing vision loss. “The reward we get from the VIP's learning to love skiing as much as we do, makes this an amazing organization to be a part of.” As an avid enthusiast of all things Colorado, he enjoys Foresight’s Summer Camp for Blind Youth almost as much as shadowing and guiding in the winter. When not enjoying all the wonders Colorado has to offer, Russell works in the technology sector - helping guide customers on how to derive value from their technology investments. |
Bill Murphy - Board Member Emeritus
Bill has been guiding blind and visually impaired skiers since 1982. At first with the Colorado Ski School for the Blind and now with Foresight Ski Guides. He has been in leadership roles with Foresight as a member of the Board of Directors, as President, and as a Sr. Guide and trainer of guides. He is constantly reminded of why he guides when rewarded with the smiles and enthusiasm shown by the Foresight clients. He has developed some life changing friendships and vows to not stop guiding until his legs are worn down to little nubs! |
