Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be an experienced skier/rider to take advantage of Foresight’s services?
You don't have to be experienced but you have to be able to ski or ride in control. If you haven’t skied in the past year or since becoming visually impaired, please call us. We need to discuss your skiing or riding history. We provide ski guides, not ski instructors. If you are new to skiing or snowboarding we recommend you contact Vail Resorts Adaptive Ski School for a lesson at 970-754-3264.
Do friends and family members also qualify for this special rate?
As much as we encourage friends and family to share your experience currently our generous sponsors only provide assistance to VIP’s who are participating in our program. However, when you contact us, ask if any discounts available from our sponsors have changed.
Can Foresight assist with transportation to and from the resorts?
Yes, our founding sponsor Epic Mountain Express can provide ground transportation between the resorts and the Denver and Eagle/Vail airports free for our VIPs and at a discount for their sighted companions. We can also help Colorado residents with transportation to the mountain – so let us know what you need.
If I were to just show up in Vail, do you have guides standing by for me?
We do not have guides standing by. Our guides are all volunteers and we ask for their time as far in advance as possible. Please contact us as soon as you start thinking about visiting Vail or Beaver Creek to make reservations.
Once I arrive, where do I go for assistance?
We will provide you with detailed information on where and when to meet your guides. Our hosts will assist you every step of the way from equipment rental to boarding the lift!
Do you operate at any other resorts besides Vail?
Yes, we can provide guides at Beaver Creek.
Do I need special training to become a guide?
Yes, our training begins in the fall with a classroom training session. Then we provide on-mountain training sessions and apprentice training throughout the year. Click on the “forms” page, fill out a guide application and send it in if you are interested.
How long does it take to become a trained guide?
That depends on your time and commitment. It usually takes at least a year with a few days commitment a month.
May friends and family members ski or ride with the VIP?
Absolutely! That’s part of the fun – showing them what you can do. They just need to follow instructions from your Foresight guide to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
